Blind Guardian
(Germany) / January 25, 2014

Forthcoming release:

German power prog metallers Blind Guardian will release their tenth studio album, "Beyond the Red Mirror", in Europe on January 30 and in North America on February 3 via Nuclear Blast Records. Four and a half years in the making, the follow-up to 2010's "At the Edge of Time" was recorded at Twilight Hall Studio in Grefrath, Germany and produced by Charlie Bauerfeind (Saxon, Helloween). The CD showcases the band’s collaborative work with three different classical choirs: one from the Czech Republic (Prague), one from Hungary (Budapest), and one from the United States (Boston). Two grand orchestras — each featuring 90 musicians — also lend their brilliant talents to the new recordings with absolutely spellbinding results.

Forthcoming release:

With “Home”, for the first time since their critically acclaimed “Posthumous Silence” of 2006, Sylvan releases another full-on concept album. Even though the Hamburg natives attach great importance to creating contextually comprehensive pieces of art with any of their albums, this time around Sylvan have upped their ambition another notch and taken on the mammoth task of building an overall concept around the never ending quest of the human condition for “Home” – that very special place that can provide a feeling of complete safety. Release dates: February 17, 2015 (US), February 20, 2015 (Europe). Label: Gentle Art of Music.

    Esoteric Recordings
    (UK) / January 25, 2014

    Forthcoming release:

  • Sanguine Hum – “Now We Have Light”

“Now We Have Light” is the third Sanguine Hum album, following on from the acclaimed albums “Diving Bell” and “The Weight of the World”. This is a double CD concept album. Unusually with this record, it is also something that the band has been working on for over a decade, and its roots go right back to the days of Antique Seeking Nuns, which was the earliest project that guitarist Joff Winks and keyboard player Matt Baber collaborated on. During this time they hatched a truly bizarre conceptual story to hang even more music around – a work that perhaps was too ambitious for them at the time, and one which took the formation of Sanguine Hum to make it a feasible challenge to complete. Somewhat like a twisted mix of Frank Zappa's “Joe's Garage” and Genesis’s “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway”, “Now We Have Light” is a future parable set in an entirely possible scenario, in which entirely impossible events start occurring. Although a core group of songs were written for this album as far back as 2002, the band were inspired by the most recent Sanguine Hum material to revisit the old tunes and where needed develop and rewrite what already existed, whilst also creating a large amount of brand new music at the same time. Ultimately, it has come to represent a definitive cross section of all the work that they have made as Antique Seeking Nuns, Joff Winks Band and Sanguine Hum thus far. Release date: February 23, 2015.

    Spider Rock Music
    (Italy) / January 25, 2014

    Forthcoming release:

  • Aura – “Noise”

Aura's third studio album, “Noise”, represents a substantial turning of sound from the previous "Deliverance", while retaining many of the elements that have always distinguished the band's sound. The turning point, if we want to talk about turning, was determined primarily by the artistic maturity of the band members, now being able to master their art and know how to move skillfully among its many facets. This creates an enveloping disc, catchy and complex at the same time: you will seem to hear different influences within each listen, ‘70s rock to post rock, united in an amalgam of incredible arrangements, moving Aura to Pomp Rock Olympus, thanks to immediate and powerful songs with a complex harmonic structure and melody. Who is already thinking to act as Styx, Reo Speedwagon and Saga, is not too out of the way… Release date: February 6, 2015.
