Elegant Simplicity
(UK) / April 15, 2007

Latest news (coming from Steven McCabe):

Mixing of the new Elegant Simplicity album has been going really well, only 4 more songs to complete! I'm amazed at the range of material recorded. Anyway, for a full-length pre-mix of one of the instrumental numbers, please go to our mySpace page and have a listen to the song, called Mood #10. It's a fab rhodes and guitar workout, with a great guitar tone set against a semi-funky backbeat! Think Jeff Beck on the Wired album for an idea of what it sounds like. It's five minutes long. Please have a listen if you get the chance.

RECORDING COMPANIES:

Giant Electric Pea Records
(UK) / April 15, 2007

Latest news:

IQ: Work is now progressing well on the writing of the new IQ album, and the band plan to start recording in June with a view to a release in late September/early October. The two tracks already aired Frequency and Already Gone have been extremely well received at the recent live shows and the band hope to unveil more new material at their festival appearances in the summer. The "Forever Live" DVD, although virtually complete, the release of the DVD has now been postponed until late 2007 to avoid it delaying the new IQ album.

IQ Live Dates:

To facilitate the writing of the new album, it was originally planned that there were to be no IQ live shows before the autumn. However following offers too good to miss, the following shows are now confirmed:

May 5th 2007: Tiana Prog Festival - near Barcelona, Spain
(IQ will be headlining this event)

July 21st 2007: Loreley "Night Of The Prog" Festival - near Koblenz, Germany
(IQ will be special guests on the Saturday night with the original Asia line-up headlining
Other acts lined up for the following day include Jethro Tull, Fish and Pendragon)

September 16th 2007: Montreal Pierre Peladeau Center
A more extensive tour will follow in November / December to promote the new album.

Martin Orford has made considerable progress with his new album "The Old Road" in recent months, and apart from the lyrics on a couple of songs, the album is completely written now, and all the drums recorded. John Wetton, Andy Edwards and Irish fiddle player Colm Murphy have all been in the studio during February contributing great sessions, with more guests lined up. Martin is confident that the album will be released in time for the IQ tour in November.

New release:

  • Steve Thorne (UK) - "Emotional Creations Part II"

Fresh from a hugely successful appearance at the recent Marillion Convention and a great support tour with It Bites, Steve Thorne has also found time to finish his latest studio opus, "Part Two: Emotional Creatures". Building on the top-class songwriting exhibited on Part One, this is a much darker and atmospheric work, which will perhaps appeal even more to a prog rock audience. Once again, Steve has assembled a star-studded cast of guest musicians including Tony Levin (King Crimson), Geoff Downes (Asia), Nick D'Virgilio and Dave Meros (Spock's Beard), Pete Trewavas (Marillion), John Mitchell (Arena), Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) and IQ's very own Martin Orford. "Part Two: Emotional Creatures" can be purchased from the GEP Online Store.
