Abramis Brama - 2007 - "Live"

*****

This live recording is the fifth official release by ABRAMIS BRAMA, from Sweden, following their three studio albums and one "Best of" compilation, none of which I have heard. What this band performs I see as a fusion of Doom-Metal, Hard- and Stoner Rock, the latter direction being a derivative of the '60's Garage style, the same '70s Hard Rock and '80s Punk Rock - in its modified, more or less polished form. The references include Blue Cheer, Clear Blue Sky, Nazareth, Grand Funk Railroad, Nirvana and Soundgarden, to name a few, though the vocals (which are in the group's native language) don't arouse any associations. Abramis Brama's music has little to do with the Progressive Rock genre, but is both inspired and tasty, additionally bringing a strong energetic message. While I only can recommend this disc to hard-rock fans, I am sure many of those will feel like they have connected up to a kind of storage battery when listening to it.
