Elegant Simplicity (UK) - 1999 - "Moments of Clarity"

*****

Unlike the band’s all-instrumental masterpiece "Purity and Despair" that precedes "Moments of Clarity", this is for the most part a song-oriented album, containing only two instrumentals – the title track (4 min) and Out of Reach (11 min), both of which are incredible, full of diverse arrangements, masterful solos and different moods. Special guest Ken Senior sings on the other five tracks. These are inspired songs, and I can’t compare them to anybody, at least in approach. Yes, there are not as many diverse arrangements on "Moments of Clarity" as I've heard on "Purity and Despair", but all of them are exceptionally original, and what really matters, they have almost nothing to do with Neo. Listening to this album I just can say "It's impossible to be confused about this music. This is Elegant Simplicity with its open originality".
