(37:12; Arising Empire) The concept behind this album is that French prog metal band Kadinja love the Nineties and early 2000’s, and feel they have been hugely influenced by many of the bands from that time so why not release an album comprising totally of covers? The ten bands covered are Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Korn, Deftones, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Papa Roach, P.O.D., A Perfect Circle and System Of A Down, which is a bit of a problem for me as at least half of those I never listen to out of choice, actually rephrase that, there are only three on that list who I ever listen to, only two of those do I have multiple albums by, and there is only one where I have all their albums and have also seen them in concert. That band is of course Slipknot, and we are treated here to “Spit It Out” with guest vocals from Tom Gadonna, but it just doesn’t work. There is not nearly enough venom, not enough hate, and the bottom end has been piled on way too thick. Many of the songs sound as if they are being covered by a wannabe Meshuggah, and the result is something I have endured as opposed to enjoyed. Of course, if you are into nu-metal much more than I, then this may well be something you are interested in. As for me, next!
