Spaced Out (Canada) - "Live at the Crescendo Festival"
Dimension X (USA) - "Implications of a Genetic Defense"
Unicorn Digital most prolific artist, Spaced Out, is back with their first live CD, "Live at the Crescendo Festival". Recorded live in 2006 at the Crescendo Festival in France, this new Spaced Out enhanced CD contains their memorable first concert in Europe during the Unstable Matter Tour in 2006. With 4 Studio albums, one live DVD, this new Live CD is a great way to feel the intensity of the Spaced Out live experience. This Concert will be released as a DVD very soon. Spaced Out offers a style of music where aspects such as rhythm, harmony and melody have been carefully thought out and composed with the goal of bringing this style to life. Through the well-structured forms, the players are free to express their personality with improvised solos. In their repertoire, polyrhythmic games combined with modal colors form a unique music which is instantly recognizable. Influences from musicians such as Keith Emerson, Jan Hammer, Eddie Jobson, John Mclaughlin, Frank Zappa, Trevor Rabin, Igor Stravinsky, Sergey Prokofiev, Bela Bartok, Philip Glass and many more have played a big part in the music created and produced by S O. The level of intensity produced by this instrumental music band is to such a high degree, that the listener is undoubtedly left spellbound.
With the release of Dimension X's "Implications of a Genetic Defense" these North American proggers continue two traditions: A Friday the 13th release date, and a story worthy of their old time radio namesake (Dimension X was one of the first serial science fiction programs, running from April 8th, 1950 until September 29th, 1951). This 'futureshock' concept album deals with the impact of modern genetic science on the Law, or in the absence of law, Justice. The CD brings two new members: drummer Eddie Shapanske, and guitarist Troy Stetina.
ProgRock Records is proud to announce the signing of Persephone's Dream to release their fourth album "Pyre of Dreams". Persephone's Dream began as an idea late in the 1980's; an idea for a prog-rock band fronted by a dynamic female singer. While not an entirely original concept, it was clearly something that was rare and was definitely something that was not to be found anywhere on the music radar of time. By late 1993 this idea had begun to actually take form as Rowen Poole and Chris Siegle began writing and recording music for what would become the first release from Persephone's Dream, Evening Mirage, in 1997. It was not until the 1999 release, MoonSpell, that people from around the world began hearing of the band and its music. By 2001's release, Opposition, the band had become well known in the prog, metal and goth communities and was appearing at a number of the well known musical festivals around at that time. The band and its intense stage and light show won fans over at every live performance. Pyre of Dreams is the culmination of this long process and one that highlights several other changes within the band itself. Two superb female vocalists (Colleen Gray and Heidi Engel) grace these new songs with their talents along with a special guest appearance from Mr. DC Cooper as lead vocalist on two songs. Persephone's Dream is currently doing select appearances around the east coast of the United States and working on material for a new CD that will, hopefully, be released some time in 2008. "Pyre of Dreams" is the ProgRock Records debut release from Persophene's Dream and can be found here. The album is available for immediate order and shipment and will be available at your favorite brick and mortar retailer on September 25, 2007.
