(USA) / November 27, 2011

New release:

Djam Karet's new label Firepool Records has just released another CD, this time by the DK side-group Hillmen, titled ”The Whiskey Mountain Sessions”. This album contains 43 minutes of instrumental Jazz-Rock/Fusion with Psychedelic influences. Totally improvised and recorded without overdubs, edits or compression at Topanga's Sea View Studios overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean, their CD features spacey atmospherics, strong grooves, soaring melodies and wailing solos, all wrapped up in a highly dynamic and crystal clear production. With Djam Karet members Gayle Ellett (Hammond organ and Rhodes piano) and Mike Murray (guitars), along with master drummer Peter Hillman and Ralph Rivers (bass) this album is filled with flowing compositions that grow and evolve over time.

Latest news:

At a press conference in Los Angeles on 11/11/’11, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward and Ozzy Osbourne appeared to announce that Black Sabbath Mk-I is back together again and will be releasing their first new full album of material since 1978's "Never Say Die!". Granted, the last official full album by the band was 1995's “Forbidden”, and the last full album of material that could be called Black Sabbath was 2009's "The Devil You Know". And don't forget the 1998 Mk I release, "Reunion", which had two new tracks on it. The four original members of Black Sabbath are currently recording their first studio album in 33 years with legendary producer Rock Rubin (seven-time Grammy winner, two of those as Producer of the Year) for release worldwide on Vertigo Records, and Vertigo/Universal Republic Records in the US in the fall 2012.

New release by MoonJune Records:

New release:

  • Machine Mass Trio – "As Real As Thinking”

Originally born as a side-project of douBt, Machine Mass Trio, led by Tony Bianco (on drums and loops) and Michel Delville (on guitar, bouzouki and live effects) comprises emerging Belgian talent Jordi Grognard on saxophones, bass clarinet and flute. “As Real as Thinking” is an amazing mix of fiery licks, catchy themes, telepathic rhythms, shamanic soundscapes and processed loops that testifies to the band’s compositional flair and extraordinary musicianship. The music is meaningfully condensed, consistently powerful without being overwhelming and will appeal to progressive jazz fans and well as world music and rock audiences with an ear for the unusual. The CD sounds alternately groovy and meditative, trancy and punkish, modern and ethnic, cloudy and clear. It showcases the musicians’ seemingly boundless energy and an extraordinary capacity to listen to each other and improvise over insane chord, rhythm and time changes while handling live electronics.
